GENERAL
INFORMATION:
The mighty golden dorado, or river tiger of Argentina,
has emerged as a highly prized sport fish, targeted
by an ever-increasing number of fly and plug casters
alike. Nestled along the shores of the Ibera Marshland
in Argentina's northern province of Corrientes, this
vast wetland occupies more than 3,000,000 acres and
offers the world's only opportunity to stalk the
Dorado in crystal-clear waters.
An ever-increasing number of globetrotting anglers are
trekking to Argentina to target the dorado and quickly
become enamoured with this splendid sport fish once
they get a glimpse of their powerful strikes, aerobatic
leaps and line stretching runs. Their iridescent gold
silhouette against the verdant green background of the
Ibera Marshes is an awesome site to behold. This is
the ideal sport fish for those that have developed a
passion for peacock bass and are looking to experience
another fantastic sport fish.
The freshwater Dorado is considered to be the single
most challenging native freshwater game fish of South
America. It is a radiant, golden-hued, salmon-like fish
with an extremely powerful jaw and razor-sharp teeth.
Unlike the salmon, however, the Dorado does not succumb
after spawning and never swims to the ocean. The Dorado
is an exceptionally strong swimmer and normally ranges
(in this area) in size from 3 to 10 pounds, although
the world record is 70 pounds. It hammers a top-water
fly or lure with reckless abandon and immediately explodes
out of the water in a series of outrageous jumps and
relentless, line stripping runs. Its physical beauty,
violent strike, aerial acrobatics and long powerful
runs are some of the qualities that make the Dorado
the exceptional sport fish that it is. We believe that
the dorado has the potential to become one of the premier
sport fish of the new millennium. Guests will fish out
of flats type boats and may fish along the shore in
a productive area as well. Each guide boat will fish
with two guests

THE
MEALS:
Breakfast
is served at approximately 6:30 or 7.00AM. You will
be served coffee or tea, along with fresh orange juice,
fruits, toasts, different marmalades, butter, scrambled
eggs, sausage, muffins... that means, you have a great
American breakfast. At lunch, you will be able to enjoy
a light meal, because a hard fishing journey will be
waiting for you during the afternoon. You can also choose
having lunch at the river, but it's not recommended
due to high temperatures and hot days. At dinner you
will be delighted by the famous Argentine barbecue,
as our meat is known throughout the world as some of
the finest and most tender cuts. You can also taste
our pasta meals, just like mama makes! All meals are
served with fresh salads and/or vegetables, and we suggest
trying the homemade empanadas… just great! For wine
lovers, red or white wines from Mendoza are served during
lunch and dinner. You will fall in love with them. For
those who enjoy drinking beer, cool bottles will be
waiting for you at the fridge. While being at the boat,
a snack will be served, with water, beer or sodas. Any
special requests made known at the beginning of their
stay (ie: vegetarians) can be accommodated.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The ranch is located on Santa Lucía riverbank, 8 miles
far from the Mburucuyá National Park, inside of one
of the largest palm tree areas of Argentina. Here you
will be able to enjoy this comfortable ranch surrounded
by a marvellous view of the river and lovely palm tree
fields. The ranch is situated in a huge and virgin area
of approximately 11, 200 acres, where you will be able
to gaze at nature and learn about our many native species
of birds, mammals, reptiles and fish. The ranch has
very suitable accommodations. There are three air-conditioned
double rooms with private bathroom, a large living-room
as well as comfortable areas to rest. There is also
a nice garden where you can have some fun, swim in the
pool, take a nap or just chat with your friends by the
sunset. You can also meet and share with typical argentine
gauchos different activities. During your visit, you
will be delighted by our excellent regional food, argentine
wines and also the kindness of the Argentine people.
